Peter Ostroushko will perform Friday night at the Paramount Theatre in Austin.

The violin virtuoso is also a composer and acclaimed performer.

A frequent guest on Garrison Keillor’s Minnesota Public Radio show “A Prairie Home Companion,” Ostroushko performance will kick off the weekend’s RE-Fest celebration of green living and clean energy at Riverland Community College in Austin.

The Sept. 20 events at RCC will be free of charge, beginning with a solar breakfast and continuing throughout the day.

There will be 40 workshops and exhibits, family entertainers including Doug Stokes and Ken Louganis and musical entertainment.

Keynote speaker Tim Penny, the former Minnesota congressman, will speak to all at 1 p.m. Sept. 20.
