Lanesboro artist to exhibit work at Austin Area Art Center

Joan (Joni) Finnegan of Lanesboro, Minn. will exhibit “In Nature’s Light, Plein Aire and Studio Painting” at the Austin Area Art Center in Oak Park Mall from Wednesday, Oct. 1 through Sunday, Oct. 26.
She has taught privately for more than 20 years, and authored three instructional books. She has also juried competitions in a variety of medias for community art exhibits. Her work is widely owned both privately as well as the corporate setting.
Though active in a wide variety of artistic areas Joni’s main media are oils and watercolors, both in her studio and plein aire. Her work is displayed locally at the Cornucopia Art Gallery in Lanesboro, Bluff Country Artist’s Gallery in Spring Grove, and The Inn at the Sacred Clay Farm in Lanesboro.
She previously owned and operated an art and framing gallery in Southern Minnesota. Since retiring from the retail business Joni enjoys devoting her time in the pursuit of art, whether traveling to new places or at home in Minnesota.
Joni and her husband, Wayne, currently reside on an acreage in rural Lanesboro.
A reception in Joni’s honor will be held Sunday, Oct. 5 from 1 to 4 p.m. There will be no sales tax on purchases the day of the reception, and refreshments will be served. This event is free and open to the public.
