It wasn’t enough.

Killian Smith and Quentin Stejskal each scored a touchdown, and Caleb Leichtnam added two for Grand Meadow as the Superlarks fell to Lanesboro 50-30 Friday night.

Grand Meadow stayed close in the first half, but turnovers proved costly for the Superlarks (2-2 Southeast Conference, 3-2 overall).

“We had five turnovers in the first half,” said Grand Meadow coach Gary Sloan. “We just got in a hole we never got out of.”

Smith scored on a two-yard run in the first quarter, while Stejskal found the end zone on a three-yard run. Leichtnam scored touchdowns on an 80-yard kick return and a one-yard run.

Brady Tart was four of six passing for 31 yards for the Superlarks, while Leichtnam rushed 15 times for 140 yards.

“Lanesboro is a good team, they’re always going to be tough to play, but we need to play better,” Sloan said. “We’re not going to beat any good teams turning the ball over that many times.”

Ethan Hall and Colin Bakke combined to score seven rushing touchdowns for Lanesboro (2-2, Southeast Conference, 3-2 overall).

“We have to protect the ball; this is the second game in a row where we’ve given up 50 or more points,” Sloan said. “We can’t be giving up that many points and expect to win.”
