Dorothy L. Sayles, 82
Dorothy Lucille Sayles, 82, of Austin died on Sept. 24, 2008 at Austin Medical Center.
She was born March 3, 1926 in Austin to Purl L. and Helen (Blom) Gordon. Dorothy graduated from Rose Creek High School in 1944. Following school she went to work in the office of Dr. J.G.W. Havens in Austin. She was married to Raymond R. Sayles, after he returned from the Navy, on May 10, 1947 at the St. Olaf Lutheran Church parsonage by the Reverend Arthur L. Swenson. The Sayles have resided and farmed along county road No. 4 near the Enterprise School. Dorothy was a homemaker and farm wife who enjoyed cooking and baking.
As active participants in the 4-H program, Ray and Dorothy have served at leaders for the Enterprise 4-H club for a number of years, with all of the children showing Holstein cattle at the fair and the girls doing sewing and baking. This past summer the Sayles family was named the Mower County Farm Family for 2008. Dorothy was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
 Dorothy is survived by her spouse, Raymond Richard Sayles, Austin; daughters: Judy (James) Bartlett, Austin, Rhonda (Dean) Borgstahl, Owatonna, Minn., Karen (Rick) Sundberg, Austin; sons: Wayne Sayles, Austin, Dean Sayles, Austin; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters: Lavonne and Gayle Bergstrom, Adams, Minn., Carol Bloxham, Bettendorf, Iowa; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Delmer Lord, Austin; nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Mark Sayles; infant son, Jerry; daughter-in-law, Debbie Sayles; and son’s fiancee, Melanie Selken.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008 at Grace Lutheran Church with the Reverend Jeffrey Forbes officiating. Interment will be in the Enterprise Cemetery, Austin. Visitation will be at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Friday from 5-8 p.m. and at Grace Lutheran Church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. The family prefers memorials. The organist will be Linda Anderson with soloist will be David Wiedemann
 Casketbearers will be Jason Bartlett, Justin Bartlett, Julie Sayles, Scott Sayles, Craig Sayles and Stephanie Sundberg. Honorary bearers will be Kristin Borgstahl, Rachel Borgstahl, Sara Sundberg and Shannon Sundberg.
