The Austin girls volleyball team had to dig deep to sweep Waseca by scores of 26-24, 25-23, 25-13 Tuesday on the road.

The Packers (10-8 overall) led the first game 12-5 early, but let Waseca make it close and Austin had to fight back to win the second game after falling behind 8-4 early. Jolene Brody served the last three points to clinch game two.

“There was no reason for these games to be as close as they were,” Austin head coach Darica Schneider said. “We either missed an attack or shanked a serve receive. We couldn’t get everything going at once.”

In the third game, Austin rotated it’s lineup after jumping out to an early lead after Nichelle Grage served eight straight points.

“We were communicating, we were energized and we were having fun in the last game,” Schneider said.
