Letter: International Paper wants to make a strong community

This week, International Paper completed its purchase of the Weyerhaeuser Containerboard Packing and Recycling business, creating the premier containerboard and corrugated packaging company in the world. These two strong businesses form a union that is not just focused on making paper and packaging products, but on bettering the communities in which we live.
The Austin facility has been an important part of the community for the past 54 years. Our team has played an active role in the Austin area through volunteer efforts, donations and a number of other outreach programs.
As a result of this transaction, International Paper has a significant presence in Austin, with more than 130 employees and numerous investments in the community. Rest assured that International Paper, too, has a long history of supporting the communities where employees live and work.
Like Weyerhaeuser, International Paper has a legacy of being good neighbors and stewards of the environment. We look forward to continuing to forge partnerships that make our community stronger.
After all, it is our vision to be one of the best and most respected companies in the world in the eyes of employees, customers, communities and share owners.
