The Austin Athletics had a late rally come up short in a 5-4 loss to Kasson in the Class ‘C’ Regional playoffs in Marcusen Park Sunday.

The loss ends the A’s season.

Pinch hitter Joe Serratore struck out with a man on third in the bottom of the ninth to end the game.

The A’s had scored four in the ninth to make Kasson sweat. Brian Voigt and Derek Emanual had RBI-singles and Brendan McCabe had a two-run double.

Kasson scored four times in the first inning and once in the second.

Josh Evans was 3-for-3.

“This will be a fun team next year when they call come back from college,” Serratore said.
