Dr. George W. Stahl, 87
Dr. George W. Stahl, 87, of Austin died on Aug. 25, 2008, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home.
Born in Sheboygan, Wis., he received his Bachelor of Science Degree at the University of Wisconsin in 1942. During World War II, he served in the United States Army for 39 months, stationed at Guadalcanal in the South Pacific and attained the rank of lieutenant. After the war he returned to the University of Wisconsin where he received his Doctor of Medicine Degree in 1950. Dr. Stahl moved to Minnesota where he completed his internship and residency in surgical urology at Ancker and Miller hospitals in St. Paul under Dr. F.E.B. Foley. From 1954 to 1986, he practiced his specialty, surgical urology, at St. Olaf Hospital in Austin, Naeve Hospital in Albert Lea and Owatonna Hospital. Dr. Stahl was coroner of Mower County for over forty-four years and a member of American Urological Association, Minnesota Medical Association, American Medical Association, Minnesota Urological Society, National Association of Medical Examiners, Mower County Medical Association and American Board of Forensic Examiners.
Survivors include two sons, Greg W. Stahl and Tracy E. Stahl of Denver, Colo.
Worlein Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Per the family’s wishes, there will be no funeral services.
