Pride is showing everywhere this week at the 2008 Mower County Fair.
There’s evidence of pride at every turn at the Mower County Fair.
On Tuesday night, it took center stage at the debut of the first-ever “Pride of Mower County” awards presentation.
The first award went to Bill Klingerman, Mower County crew leader for the Sentence To Service workers.
Ron Seath received an award for his induction into the Mower County Livestock Hall of Fame. Seath was Mower County Extension Service 4-H programming coordinator for 29 years before retiring.
Bev Smith was honored in her absence with the “Outstanding Senior Citizen” award.
Smith is a regular volunteer at the Salvation Army Austin Corps and Austin Public Library as well as St. Olaf Lutheran Church.
The Mower County Farm Bureau’s Marlon Fay and Ron Frank presented Century Farm honors to three families: Jon and Cindy Jax, Harlen and Joyce Renken and Marcella Schwartz.
The Farm Bureau pair also recognized the contributions of hosts of their successful “Breakfast on the Farm” promotion: Roger and Lori Read, Eugene Anderson and Lynn, Jane and Christy Sathre.
The fifth award went to the Minnesota Extension Service “Farm Family of the Year,” Ray and Dorothy Sayles and sons Wayne and Dean.
The final award went to Adams American Legion Post No. 146 as the “Outstanding Service Organization” honoree.
State Sen. Dan Sparks presented the award to new Legion Post commander, Dave Allen.
