The 36-year-old Austin woman charged with drug crimes for allegedly stashing several grams of cocaine in a police car reached a plea agreement Friday in Mower County District Court.

Jennifer Jodel Frazier pleaded guilty to one count of fifth-degree controlled substance crime, a conviction stemming from cocaine residue found in straws in her purse, according to court documents.

She was originally charged with single counts of felony second-degree and third-degree drug crimes, misdemeanor fourth-degree driving while intoxicated and petty misdemeanors speeding and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The criminal complaint said a police officer stopped Frazier for speeding near the 1200 block of Fourth Street Northwest around 1:20 a.m. Feb. 15. After noticing symptoms of intoxication, including glassy eyes and an odor of alcohol, the officer asked Frazier to perform multiple field sobriety tests.

She failed several, the complaint said, and was transported to jail. A portable breath test showed a blood alcohol level of 0.09.

Frazier would admit to possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and two straws used for cocaine in her purse before she was booked, the complaint states. Police allegedly found a small amount of marijuana and a dugout, as well as the straws, which contained cocaine residue.

During a search of his car at 6 a.m., the officer who took Frazier to jail found eight individual packages of cocaine under the driver’s-side seat, the complaint said.

The total weight was 3.5 grams.

Frazier will face sentencing Dec. 11. The maximum penalty for the crime is five years in prison and/or $10,000 in fines.
