A severe thunderstorm watch currently is in effect for the region, according to KAAL-TV.

The National Weather Service in La Crosse, Wis. has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for eastern Mower County, western Fillmore County and Olmsted County until 9:45 a.m.

Winds up to 80 mph have been observed and nickel-sized hail is possible. The storm is moving ESE at 45 mph, according to KAAL.

The weather service recommends moving into an interior room on the lowest floor of your home or business and stay away from windows.
