Bikers and non-bikers are invited to a music, riding and camping fundraising event Saturday at Riverbend Campground south of Austin.

The First International Ride for Help Motorcycle Rally will be held to benefit general operations for the Salvation Army in Mower County.

Tammy Flicek, fundraising director and volunteer coordinator, said the event was organized to help them “keep the doors open and lights on.

“As the year gets closer to ending, things get depleted,” she said.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the rides begin at 10 a.m..

The shorter, 75-mile trip will wind through smaller towns like Moscow and London — the “international” reference in the rally’s name.

A second, 200-mile round-trip will take riders through Preston and Harmony, Minn.

For those who don’t want to participate in the rides, five to six local bands, like Six-Mile Grove, will by playing at the campground all day beginning at 1 p.m. Each will play an hour-long set.

“If you’re coming out just for the day, come and kick back and listen to music,” Flicek said.

Door prizes and drawings will be held throughout the day, and kids activities, including a scavenger hunt, will be available as well.

The riding fee, $10, includes a meal of pulled pork sandwiches and sides. Camping is $15 for all bikers.

Non-riders are $5 per person or $8 for two; the meal is $5 per plate.

Salvation Army kettles will be on site so donors can give to individual programs.

“Rain or shine, all bikes welcome,” Flicek said.

“You don’t have to have a Harley to be in it,” she added with a laugh.
