The Austin man who fled a Mower County jail work crew in March is being held without bail until an Aug. 7 hearing.
Wilfrido Alejo Jasso, 24, has been charged with a single gross misdemeanor count of escape from custody, which carries a maximum penalty of one year in jail and/or $3,000 in fines.
The criminal complaint said Jasso had been given work release privileges while serving a one-year jail sentence stemming from a gross misdemeanor conviction March 17.
He was near the Mower County Highway Department, off Eighth Avenue Northeast, March 21 when he allegedly requested a bathroom break.
He never returned, the complaint said.
Authorities searched the area and went to his home without results.
Details about how or where he was found were not available.
He was recently arrested and appeared for a bail hearing July 29.
