The Austin Greyhounds (8-17 overall) took a big lead early and held on to a 7-2 win in Coon Rapids Friday night.
Austin scored five runs in the second inning off of a two-run double by Nick Bowe, a two-run double by Nick Rohne, and an RBI-single by Tim Kaplan. Craig Braaten, who had two doubles, doubled to start the inning.
“We put the loss to Waseca behind us and hopefully now we can start playing Greyhound baseball,” Austin manager John Frein said. “We’re geared up for next week and we’re looking forward to playing the Blue Sox Friday.”
Dave Meyer struck out 12 in nine innings for Austin.
The Greyhounds will host their fan appreciation game Sunday at 1 p.m. against Marshall at Marcusen Park.
