The Austin Blue Sox (9-13 overall) had two pitchers narrowly miss no-hitters in as they split a doubleheader at Chaseberg/Coon Valley Sunday.
The Blue Sox won the first contest 4-2 and lost the second game 1-0.
In the first game, Duell Higbe had a no-hitter going into the sixth, but he got in a little trouble, allowing two doubles and a couple runs, and he had to be relieved by Brady Banse, who came up with the save.
Banse was the hard luck loser in the second game as he didn’t allow a hit in the first five and one thirds innings, but he gave up a walkoff homer in the seventh inning.
“We had six hits in the first four innings but we couldn’t get any runs to support Brady,” Casey Toops of the Blue Sox said. “We should’ve won that one.”
