Letters: There is no confusion for Mormons

The FLDS Church is not in anyway a part of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (often referred to as Mormons). The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the restoration of Jesus Christ’s original church. We believe in living prophets (just as in the Old Testament) who receive guidance and direction from God. In 1890, the living prophet Wilford Woodruff received revelation from God to end the practice of polygamy. Therefore members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints no longer enter into plural marriage.
To infer the FLDS polygamists continue their legacy of plural marriage because of a maze of confusion in the scriptures of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a misunderstanding. The writer does not understand the concept of the restoration of Jesus Christ’s church through the Prophet Joseph Smith (not John Smith as the writer said). Jesus Christ restored His church through a living prophet and continues to direct His church today through the living prophet Thomas S. Monson.
To those who listen to and follow the living prophet there is no maze of confusion — what a blessing to have living prophets.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints invites all people to come unto Jesus Christ through prayer and study of the scriptures. To learn more go to www.mormon.org or www.jesuschrist.lds.org. There is no maze of confusion when we let God guide our actions.
