Hayfield sprinter gets a pair of sixth place finishes at state

Two Hayfield athletes came through with solid performances at the Class ‘A’ girls state track and field meet in Hamline University Saturday.

Kiley Severson, a Hayfield sophomore, took fifth in the shot put with a throw of 37 feet and 7.25 inches.

Severson threw over a foot further than her best throw at sections.

Liberty Slinden of Atwa/Csom/Gr won the shot put with a throw of 41-11.

Genessa Heide, a Hayfield junior, took sixth in both the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash.

Heide ran the 100-meter dash in 12.83 seconds and ran the 200-meter dash in 26.23 seconds.

Ashley Tingelstad of Lake Park/Audubon took first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.11 seconds, and she won the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.99 seconds.

As a team, Hayfield finished 22nd overall with 13 points. Providence Academy won the Class ‘A’ girls title with a score of 55 points.
