Dale Wangen

Dale A. Wangen, age 52 of Albert Lea (Oakland), Minn. died Thursday morning as a result of an automobile accident.
Dale was born on June 15, 1955 to Walter and Fern (Frondal) Wangen in Oakland (Albert Lea), Minn. He grew up in Oakland and attend schools in Hayward and Albert Lea where he graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1974. Dale also received a one-year degree from Riverland Community College in Austin.
Dale married Brenda K. Norland on Aug. 14, 1976 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Austin. The couple lived near Oakland most of their life together and Dale was the owner/operator of Rolling Green Fencing, Inc. the past several years where he made many friends. He enjoyed camping, playing cards and spending time with all of his family and friends. Dale was active in 4-H, played on the church softball league, loved to tease and was always full of fun. He started to treat the Oakland Lutheran Sunday School students to donuts, cookies and even pizza every Sunday morning. Several students would refer to him as the “Donut Man.”
Survivors include his wife: Brenda Wangen; two daughters: Tasha (Paul) Kroneman, Austin, Minn.; Alice Wangen, Albert Lea, Minn.; Nick Wangen, Austin, Minn.; parents: Walter and Fern Wangen, Oakland, Minn.; father and mother in law: Eldon “Skip” and Ethel Norland, Austin, Minn.; two grandchildren: Kody and LeighaKroneman, Austin, Minn.; three brothers: Arden (Kleone) Wangen, Albert Lea, Minn., Gary (Jane) Wangen, Albert Lea, Minn., Warren (Lita) Wangen, Cannon Country, Calif., one sister: Mary (Dave) Knurek,Lake Mary, Fla., brother-in-laws: Bob (Pat) Norland,Rochester, Minn., Stan (Terri) Norland, Claremont, Minn., David (Jo) Nordland, Waseca, Minn., Kevin (Lynda) Norland,Owatonna, Minn.; many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Dale was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kaylee Marie Wangen on June 13, 2003.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at Oakland Lutheran Church, 22042 850th Ave., Albert Lea, Minn. with Pastor Bob C. Berthold officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Monday evening at the Worlein Funeral Home in Austin, Minn. and one hour before the service at the church. Interment will be in the Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the family.
