The National Weather Service in La Crosse, Wis. has issued a Flood Warning for southeastern Minnesota, northeast Iowa and western Wisconsin.
Austin is again on flood watch, with Dobbins Creek at flood stage and Turtle Creek and the Cedar River extremely high. Portions of Interstate 90 have been blocked off due to high water.
The county board was scheduled this morning to discuss resolutions declaring Mower County a disaster area, which would qualify them for FEMA funding.
While the city has taken more precautions against flooding since 2004, residents, particularly those in flood areas, need to be on alert.
One of the biggest dangers of flooding is driving into flooded areas.
It takes two feet of water to float a vehicle — and that includes SUVs.
Please do not risk it. Find an alternative route or change your plans. Keep informed about current flooding conditions through NWS and local news.
