She was born Dec. 29, 1914 to Frank and Ellen (Sundby) Dietrich in Austin, Minn. She graduated from Austin High School in 1933 where she discovered a lifelong interest in art. Lucille worked for several years at the Federal Bakery, often receiving praise from the manager for her creative window displays. She met and married the love of her life, Harry L. Hansen, on Dec. 16, 1941. They celebrated 64 years of marriage in 2005. Lucille was a child care provider for several years. She was known for her baking, especially apple pies, which she would give to friends and shut-ins. She also made her own greeting cards, including the verses inside the cards. She enjoyed embroidery, giving away her work to family and friends. Lucille was a strong and loving support to her family, caring for her elderly parents and her husband when he became ill. She loved her neighbors and friends; many of them were acquaintances for several years. A member of Grace Lutheran Church for many years, Lucille had a strong faith, evidenced by her words and deeds.
