Burley F. Elliott, 73
Funeral mass for Burley F. Elliott will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at St. Patricks Catholic Church in LeRoy, Minn. with Father Russell Scepaniak and Father Paul Nelson officiating. Burial will be in the LeRoy Catholic Cemetery near his sons, Michael and James Elliott.
Burley F. Elliott, age 73, of Austin, Minn. and formally of LeRoy, died Saturday morning at his home in Austin.
Burley was born Sept. 5, 1929. He was baptized in 1951 before his marriage to Irma. Burley and Irma had been married for 51 years. Burley's family grew up around LeRoy. He farmed, worked at Oliver in Charles City and at IBM in Rochester. IBM transferred him to Colorado, Arizona and Connecticut until he retired.
After a hiatus of 10 years at a resort in Arizona, the couple returned to Minnesota and settled in Austin to be near their families and children. A good time was had going to graduations, weddings and reunions until his last illness.
Burley always worked hard and looked forward to his vacations every year. He dearly loved to go camping and sightseeing. He covered more than 50 states, Canada and Mexico.
Burley had heart disease for 24 years and battled three types of cancer before succumbing to an inoperable brain tumor.
Burley is survived by his wife: Irma of Austin; children: Bill of Greenbay, DeAnn Gross of Rochester, Shaun Zeitz of St. Ansgar, Jackie Abel of Mantorville, Jerry of LeRoy, and Trisha Elliott of Austin; 12 grandchildren and four great-granddaughters.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Floyd and Rose Elliott; two sisters: Juanita and Dixie; two brothers: John and Bruce; two sons: Michael and James; and grandson: Alan.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2003, at Hindt-Hutchins Funeral Home in LeRoy and one hour prior to the service at the church. There will be a Rosary at 5 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
