This weekend, the Kayseas will be in the Apple Valley Tournament.

The Stars had lost to Marshall 2-1 in their first game, but beat Mason City in bracket play to get back on track. In the championship round, the Jaycee All-Stars upset Northfield 4-3 and then lost to eventual champion West St. Paul.

"All four of our pitchers, Nate Wagner, Matt Sims, Mark Harber, and Andrew Orcutt, did a great job," said coach Gabby Weiss. "We just had a bad inning against St. Paul."

"The defensive play of Catherine Wagner was the difference in the Northfield game," added coaches Lefty Kelly and Brandon Rector.

This weekend, the Jaycees will be in the Albert Lea Tournament as they get ready for the 25th annual Youth International Tournament, which is July 4-6 at Todd Park's North Complex.
