The Austin Kaysea All-Star baseball team won consolation honors in the Brownton Wood Bat Classic over the weekend.
The Kaysea squad beat Willmar, 9-1, behind the pitching of Darren Wagner and Kody Retterath for the consolation title.
"Tt was a great experence for our kids to be playing with wood bats," said coach Mark Voyce.
The Eagles 14-year-old team, competing in the same tournament, finished 1-2 and were eliminated the first day.
The Jaycee 12-and-under group lost a twinbill to Albert Lea despite excellent pitching from Matt Sims, Nathen Wagner and Mark Harber.
This weekend the Jaycees will host Owatonna for a pair of games, and the Eagles will be in the Burnsville Tournament.
