A 17-year-old male, apparently walking into the woods to manufacture methamphetamine, was caught Sunday morning.
According to a Mower County Sheriff's Office report, the youth was observed walking along railroad tracks in Austin Township near 175the Street and carrying a black duffel bag.
When deputies investigated, the youth ran into nearby woods and refused to come out.
A canine unit was dispatched to the scene and followed the youth's scent into the woods and apprehended the teenager.
When the youth's bag was searched, it was found to contain coffee filters, batteries, hoses and other precursors to the manufacture of methamphetamine.
The youth is being held in custody, pending the filing of charges by the Mower County Attorney's Office.
