The Southland/Grand Meadow boys's golf team was cooled off Friday by Caledonia/Spring Grove, 158-165, at Ma-Cal-Grove Country Club.

"We ended up at .500 in the conference," said S/GM head coach Wayne Robertson, "but we won five of our last six, so at least we finished strong."

S/GM's Bryan Peck shot a 39 to finish just behind C/SG's Pete Frank and Kevin Loeffler, who were co-medalists with a pair of 38s.

S/GM finished its regular season at 5-5 in the Three Rivers Conference and 28-7 overall. They begin sub-sectional play Monday at Maple Valley Golf Club in Stewartville.

S/GM girls lose at D-E

The Southland/Grand Meadow girls' golf team concluded its regular season Friday with a road defeat to Dover-Eyota, 229-241.

D-E's Jamie Yost was the medalist on the afternoon with a 52, coming in just ahead of S/GM's Cathy Schneider and Charlotte Retterath, who both posted 54s.

S/GM plays in the sub-section tournament Monday at Stewartville.
