Marie Belshan, 89

Funeral services for Marie (Pond-elicek) Belshan, age 89, of Albert Lea will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2003, at Bayview/-Freeborn Funeral Home. Rev. John Malm will officiate. Interment will be in Bohemian National Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2003, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour before the service on Friday.

Marie died Tuesday, May 27, 2003, at Thorne Crest Retirement Center North.

Marie Belshan was born July 12, 1913, to Antony and Terezie (Zarybnicky) Pondelicek in Menominee, Mich. On Dec. 18, 1918, she came to Geraldine, Mont., with her mother and lived there a short time before moving to Hayward Township in July 1919. Marie attended School District #75 and #116.

On Sept. 18, 1934, she was married to Frank Belshan in Albert Lea. They farmed in Hayward Township before moving to Myrtle in March 1958 where she lived for 40 years.

Marie worked for District #245 as a cook in the elementary schools for 27 years at Myrtle and Glenville. She also worked at the Myrtle Grocery for 15 years. Marie was clerk-treasurer of the city for 25 years. In November 1998 she moved to Senior Court in Albert Lea.

Marie was a long-time member of Z.C.B.J. Lodge #44 and also a member of Trondjem Lutheran Church, rural Myrtle. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, and her home and family. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much.

Marie is survived by her son, Franklin and wife Ronna of rural Glenville; grandchildren, Debra and husband James Viktora of Hollandale, and Pamela and husband Craig Peterson of Albert Lea; great-grandchildren: Kimberly and friend Daniel Stoner, Amber, Angela and friend Brooks Drescher, Matthew, and Joshua.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank; and brothers, James and Joseph.

Marie was a very caring and loving person. She will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her.

Memorials are preferred to Crossroads Community Hospice.
