Milo Cafourek, 89

Funeral services for Milo Cafourek, 89, of Glenville will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 19, 2003, at First Lutheran Church in Glenville. Rev. Mark Wendland will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. today, Sunday, May 18, 2003, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Milo died Thursday, May 15, 2003, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.

Milo Cafourek was born April 4, 1914, to John and Frances (Svejkovsky) Cafourek in London Township and attended school there. On November 1, 1934, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Prihoda at Church of Christ in Austin. Milo farmed in the London area until his retirement in 1974 when the couple moved to Glenville. He had been Clerk of School District No. 51, a Supervisor of London Township Board, and Supervisor of Soil Conservation. Milo had also belonged to the Farmers' Home Administration, London Creamery, ASC Committee, Eagles, London Conservation Club, and the Glenville Senior Citizens. After retirement, the couple spent many winters in Alamo, Texas.

Milo enjoyed fishing, hunting, bird watching, playing cards, dancing, and having his family and grandchildren around him.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Dorothy; children: Patricia and husband Dale Peters, Sandra and husband Harold (Butch) Steene, Kenneth and wife Susan Cafourek, and Diane and husband Wes Webb; 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Ruth and Leonard Heiny.

Milo was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Loy Cafourek; sisters: Frances Baley, Helen Kermes, Agnes Bouda, Kate Cherney, Bessie Gute, and Beulah Nelson; granddaughter, Kayla Steene; and two sons-in-law, Roger Cooling and Danny Adams.

Milo was a loving, caring person who will be missed by his loving family and many friends.

Darwin D. "Teats" Miller, 64

Darwin D. "Teats" Miller, 64, of Austin, died Thursday, May 15, 2003, at his home after a two year battle with esophageal cancer.

Teats was born July 4, 1938, in Austin to Robert E. and Mabel C. (Kvam) Miller. He attended Austin Public Schools. On September 5, 1959, he was united in marriage to Sharon R. Reed at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin. Teats was a self taught mechanic, starting with bicycles and ending with heavy equipment. He worked for Curtis Rambler in the 1950's, B&B Auto Service, Jim Leben's Fordtown and 28 years with Ulland Brothers Construction. He lived and breathed pheasant hunting, in the field or at flea markets where anything with a ringneck was added to his collection. Teats loved his family and enjoyed keeping their vehicles running.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Sharon Miller, Austin; three daughters and sons-in-law: Cynthia (Doug) Mulder, Medford; Cheryl (Bryan) Hernandez, Blooming Prairie; Candy (Carl) Mullenbach, Mapleview; eight grandchildren: Matthew and Cassandra Mulder; Jacinta, Jesse and Bryan Hernandez; Joseph, Andrea and Steven Mullenbach; two sisters: Darlene Bos, Austin; Christine Castle, Rochester; two brothers: Ronald (Judy) Miller, Austin; David Miller, Austin; nieces; nephews; cousins; aunts; and uncles.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, James; grandson, Mitchell Mulder.

A funeral mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 19, 2003, at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Harry Jewison officiating. There will be a 6:30 p.m. wake service on Sunday at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. and also from 9 to 10 a.m. on Monday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

The honorary casket bearers will be Jacinta Hernandez, Andrea Mullenbach and Cassandra Mulder. The casket bearers will be Matthew Mulder, Joseph and Steven Mullenbach, Jesse and Bryan Hernandez and Jeff Brady.

Marilyn I. Hanson, 78

Marilyn I. Hanson, 78, of Austin died Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.

She was born Aug. 14, 1924, in Dawson, the daughter of Christ and Agnes (Bjorkman) Eftimof. She graduated from Minneapolis Central High School and was married to Quinten H. Hanson on Nov. 16, 1942, in Minneapolis. They resided in Minneapolis, Watertown and Apple Valley. Following her husband's death in 1981, she moved to New Mexico and returned to Minnesota to live in Austin in 1989. While in Austin she was employed at the deli at Elden's IGA until her retirement. She was a member of the Eagle's Auxiliary, the BPOE Does and the St. Olaf Hospital Auxiliary. She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed reading, sewing and playing bingo.

Survivors include children, Quint and Judy Hanson, Deerwood; Sheri and Erik Newhouse, Austin; Laurel (Lori) Hanson and Kelly Boerhave, Austin; Gary and Cindy Hanson, Bloomington; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mavis and Earl Lindblom, Richfield; Phyllis and Nels (Okie) Okeson, Aitkin; nieces; nephews; special friend, Buelah Luthe, Austin.

She was preceded in death by her husband, son Daryl and brother Stan Eftimof.

Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 19, 2003, Monday at the funeral home and for one hour before the service on Tuesday.

Service: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Kristin K. Wee officiating.

Interment: 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.

Grace Mather Davis, 89

Grace Mather Davis, 89, died Friday afternoon, May 16, 2003, at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield.

She was born, March 3, 1914, to Marion and Margaret (Mather) Kelsey in Bradgate, Iowa, where she grew up and went to school. She quit school in the 11th grade to work at various jobs. She married Ransom D. Helms in Webster County, Iowa, on Nov. 18, 1932. They had one daughter, Beverly Darlene Helms Kuehl. The marriage ended two years later. She married Donald Kenley Davis on January 6, 1937, in Burwell, Neb. The couple of 49 years had four children. They lived in Iowa before moving to the rural Waltham area in 1951. In 1970 they moved into Hayfield where they were owners and operators of Don's Caf. She enjoyed gardening and her flowers.

Survivors include two sons, Donald (Cindy Davis) Keith, Farmington; Richard Clyde Davis, Austin; daughter, Susan (Dwight Collett) Kay, Austin; 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; two daughters, Dorothy Ann Davis and Beverly Darlene Helms Kuehl; four sisters, Margaret, Marion, Betty and Helen; and two grandchildren.

Visitation: noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2003, at the funeral home.

Service: 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Rev. Charlie Talcott officiating.

Interment: Fairview Cemetery, Hayfield.
