With conference supremacy on the line, Lyle/Pacelli's Nels Nelson responded to the pressure with his second no-hitter in the last week, blanking host Glenville-Emmons 1-0 to secure a share of the Southeast Conference title.
After no-hitting his team's other main conference rival LeRoy Ostrander/Grand Meadow last Thursday, Nelson dominated G-E with 13 strikeouts to go along with only two walks.
Glenville-Emmons' Mitch Meier was able to match him zero-for-zero through five innings however. Meier got the first two outs in the sixth too before a single by Peter Korfhage. Alex Halbach followed with another base hit with Korfhage going to third on the play. T.J. Parlin then stepped up and delivered an RBI-single to give Nelson the only run his team would need.
Korfhage had two of the six L/P hits on the afternoon in addition to scoring the winning run.
L/P is now 6-3 and 10-3 overall. They will share the conference title with the winner of tomorrow's Glenville-Emmons/LOGM matchup.
