Local men deserve awards

Former Mower County Sheriff Barry Simonson and retired attorney Terry Meany were honored Thursday for their years of hard work in the local judicial system.
We want to take this opportunity to tip our hats to them as well.
Working in law enforcement and prosecuting the bad guys can, at times, be a thankless jobs. The hours aren't steady and the praise is few and far between.
However, it's only right the two were given the Liberty Bell Award from the Mower County Bar Association. The award caps off what many agree have been successful careers for each person.
We're pretty confident the two didn't get into their professions for the glamour, but rather, for the love of what they wanted to do. It's nice to see that recognition is given to those who have worked hard to serve their community and make it a better place to live.
