The Austin boys' golf team played its final match of the season Thursday in the Section 1AA Preliminar-ies at the Owatonna Country Club, finishing 10th to miss the eight-team cut. The good news is that Troy Hoefflin, Tom Kluczny and Mike Osboe shot well enough to advance to the section finals.

"Today was a little disappointing for us," said AHS head coach Corey Haugen. "We believe we should have finished in the top eight, but it wasn't meant to be today."

Hoefflin shot a 2-over-par 37 on the back nine to finish with a 79, good for fourth overall. Osboe came in just behind him with an 80 to earn a top-five finish of his own. Kluczny recovered from a somewhat shaky front nine to post an 82 and join his teammates in advancing. Matt Ball shot an 83 to miss the cut by one stroke.

"We have had a very positive season to this point statistically," Haugen said. "Our record doesn't show the improvement we have shown on the course this year."

Section 1AA Finals will be held Tuesday at Bellwood Oaks in Hastings.
