The Riverland women’s tennis team moved to 4-1 in duals this season with a pair of victories over Wisconsin schools Sunday in La Crosse. The Devils doused UW-Marshfield, 6-3, and Madison Area Technical College, 7-2, to regain its confidence.
The Lady Blue Devils took five of six singles matches and two of three doubles bouts from MATC, a Region XIII foe.
&uot;It was good to see Madison because we play them in our region,&uot; said Riverland coach Suzy Hebrink. &uot;They’ve got some nice players. It’ll make our region that much tougher, the toughest region we will have in the four years I’ve been here, so it’ll be exciting when it actually comes to that point.&uot;
Bri and Steph Bednar and Mel sheedy each captured two singles victories on Sunday, while Gretchen Hansen, Sara Zastoupil and Lisa Snyder all split their matches.
Riverland competes today in Mankato against host Bethany Lutheran College.
