Peace, calm must return to Baghdad

It's easy for American and British troops to say "We've done our part. Let the Iraqis now fend for themselves."

However, it instead would be wise for troops to start enforcing curfews until there's a sense of peace in Baghdad.

Now that Iraq's capital is free from the Saddam Hussein regime, the problem has now morphed into looting. Hospitals, universities and numerous stores are being ransacked of their goods.

It's not particularly a pretty picture when trying to start a democracy.

A British official commented that stopping the looters too soon could be seen as "oppressing them when they're just having their first taste of freedom."

Huh? Freedom is one thing. Stealing money from Iraq's Central Banks is another.

It's good to see the Iraqi people are getting their first taste of freedom. However, the actions and misdeeds of others need to be reigned in quickly before it gets further out of hand.
