The Commonweal Theater Company of Lanesboro will be presenting "The Master Builder" by Henrik Ibsen at the Paramount Theater at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 25. Tickets are available at the Paramount Office and Black Barts/Nemitz's. Adults are $12 and students are $7. There will be an extra $2 charge per ticket if you purchase your tickets at the door.
The Master Builder is about the world of Halvard Solness, a brilliant but aging architect. His towering ego is shaken by the
arrival of a beautiful young woman who has come to collect on a decade old promise. Her surprise visit sparks new life in Solness' home, as well as his heart, while rekindling old memories. An obsession with the past and a fear of the present collide with powerful results.
The Commonweal Theater is in its 15th season. It is a nonprofit professional theater company. It is run by a collective of theater artists who want to make live theater accessible to as many people as possible. This theater group began in 1989 when Preston native, Eric Lorentz Bunge came to Lanesboro with friends from graduate school and started the Commonweal. The first year the Commonweal mounted a two-play, six-week season on a shoestring budget. They have since grown into a six-play, year-round season running 45 weeks between February and December and employing a full company of professionals.
The Austin Swing Band will be performing at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 26. Tickets are $12 for adults and $7 per students. Add $2 for each ticket purchased at the door.
The Austin Swing Band is back by popular demand with their toe tapping big band music. There will also be a Spring Fashion show on this night featuring garments for all ages and styles. This will be presented by Fashion Bug, Keenans and Younkers.
