Lila M. Nachatilo, 59

Lila Mae (Hanson) Nachatilo, 59, of Velva, N.D., formerly of Ruso, N.D., and Iron, died Thursday, April 10, 2003.

She was born March 22, 1944, to Julian and Emeline (Kuntz) Hanson at St. Joseph's Hospital in Minot, N.D. She was raised on the family farm near Ruso, N.D. She attended elementary school in Ruso and graduated in 1962 from Butte High School, where she was chosen as Homecoming Queen.

After high school, she attended Minot Business College and worked in the Minot area. In 1963, she married William Nachatilo. She lived many years of her adult life in northern Minnesota near Iron. In 1980, she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. In 1987 she moved from Iron to Austin and in 1993, moved to the Souris Valley Care Center in Velva, N.D.

Lila loved holiday traditions and special times with family and friends.

Survivors include daughter, Krystal (Quien) Kjarland, Elkton; son, Scott (Stefani) Nachatilo, Oklahoma City, Okla.; mother, Emeline Hanson, Velva, N.D.; brother, Clarence (Donna) Hanson, Ruso, N.D.; grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father and sister, Shirley Hegney.

Visitation: 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and one hour before the service at the church on Monday.

Service: A vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home and Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Monday, April 14, 2003, at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Velva, N.D.

Interment: Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Velva.

Linda Jean Peterson, 63

Linda Jean (Mrs. Douglas) Peterson, age 63, of Austin died at Austin Medical Center, Thursday evening, April 10, 2003.

She was born Sept. 9, 1939, in Kansas City, Mo., to Charles B. and Jean (Garrison) Young. Linda and her family lived in Kansas and Nebraska until she was 8 years old. They moved to Windom, Minn., in 1947. In 1957 they moved to Worthington where Linda graduated from high school and she was Clerk of Probate for five years.

On Oct. 20, 1962, she married Douglas Peterson. After they took up residence in Austin, Linda worked at Sterling Bank from 1963 until 1974 when she went to work for Norwest Bank as a secretary for three presidents. In 1986 she left the bank due to health problems. A homemaker for 12 years, Linda was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and loved working with the children at Holy Cross School and also enjoyed music.

Survivors include husband, Douglas Peterson of Austin; son, Brett (Tina) Peterson of Kansas City, Mo.; daughter, Melissa (Michael) McMillan of Minnetonka; three grandchildren, Jordan and Evan Peterson, Audrey McMillan; mother, Jean Young of Worthington; two brothers, Larry Young of Sibley, Iowa; Paul (Deb) Young of Mankato; nieces, nephews, cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father and her grandparents.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, April 14, 2003, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church with the Rev. Robert Stohlmann officiating. Worlein Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation or reviewal. The family prefers memorials to Holy Cross Lutheran Church or School.
