Kasson-Mantorville scraped together single runs in five consecutive innings, but the KoMets' consistency did not prove to be enough.

Bradey Perrigo led the Hayfield hitters with a 2-for-3 day at the plate, driving in one run. Cody Hegna was 1-3 with two runs scored.

Both teams had seven hits in the HVL match. Hayfield (2-1, 2-1) goes to Lake City today for a 5 p.m. league contest.

Softball secures sweep

The Hayfield softball team evened its record at 1-1 in the Hiawatha Valley League and 2-2 overall with a 10-4 win at Kasson-Mantorville Monday afternoon.

Cassie Kraetsch (2-1) picked up the pitching victory for the Vikings and also had the hot hand offensively. Kraetsch allowed only three K-M hits and did not walk a batter.

Kraetsch nearly equaled the KoMets' offense with her own 2-for-3 day at the plate.

Hayfield plays host to Lake City today at 5 p.m.
