Ryan Ament and Ashton May each earned a first-place finish to highlight the season-opening meet for the Grand Meadow/LeRoy-Ostrander/Southland track contingent Thursday at Kasson.
Ament placed first in the discus, while May was victorious in the 200-meter dash. May also finished second in the triple jump and the open 400, and was on the third-placed 4×200 relay team.
The GMLOS girls placed fourth out of six teams, while the boys were fourth out of seven.
"It was a good first showing for the girls, placing in all but four events," said GMLOS girls' coach Andrea McKichan.
Both teams run today at a rescheduled Rushford-Peterson meet in Rushford.
Andrew Peterson picked up a second-place finish in the 800-meter run. Ament added third-place efforts in the 100 and 400, and was on the fourth-placed 4×100 relay squad with Brandon Evans, Pat Whalen and Chuck Brandsmeier.
Rebecca Stier took second in the discus and fourth in the shot. Cindy Arndorfer was third in the 100 and Rachel Simon was third in the 3,200 run.
