Emily Wencl pitched seven strong innings as three lady Blossoms combined for three hits to lead Blooming Prairie to a 5-1 victory over visiting Triton on Friday afternoon.

The Cobras took a 1-1 tie into the bottom of the fifth inning, but that is when lead-off Blooming Prairie batter Amanda Schlund got her all important hit of the game. Schlund, who went 1-4 with a run, started the rally that would help to assure the win for the Blossoms. "Their pitcher got into a bit of a control problem in the fifth," remarked Blooming Prairie coach Chad Gimbel. Amanda got the first hit and Laura came up with a big hit after that," he said.

Laura Wurst (1-2) helped the team by donating an RBI producing hit in the fifth that would give the Blossoms a comfortable lead for ace Wencl to work from.
