After a three-game losing streak, the Blooming Prairie softball team is starting to get back on track. The Blossoms won their second straight game 2-0 over Randolph Monday behind a shutout from hurler Emily Wencl.

"Another super game for her," said BP head coach Chad Gimbel of Wencl's efforts. "The defense played very well behind her too, they made some tough plays."

Wencl and Randolph starter Jen Harri had virtually similar pitching lines, with both allowing only four hits while striking out seven and walking two.

The Blossoms were able to dent the plate against Harri however. Andrea Miller scored the first run in the third inning by drawing a two-out walk. She then proceeded to steal her way to third, where she was singled in by Amber Vogt.

After a walk to Wencl in the fifth, courtesy runner Steph Njos took her place and swiped second. Vogt hit a groundball that she was able to beat out at first, while Njos hustled all the way around from second to beat the relay home for the second BP run.

Vogt and Amanda Schlund were both 2-for-3 on the afternoon, with Vogt driving in both BP runs. Harri went 2-for-2 with a walk in a losing effort, while Cassie Otte had two hits in her four trips to the plate for Randolph.

BP improves to 6-3 overall and 4-3 in Gopher Conference play. The Blossoms travel to Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton next for a makeup game on Wednesday.
