David Johnson scored 29 points and had 10 rebounds as the Hayfield boys' basketball team survived a scare from seventh-seeded Kasson-Mantorville, 67-53, Tuesday night in Hayfield.

"David came up big for us tonight," said Vikings coach Chris Pack. Hayfield had little trouble in beating the KoMets in two regular-season meetings, but tournament time brought about the best in Kasson-Mantorville in Section 2AA East Sub-Section play Tuesday.

Tyler Kramer added 18 points, eight rebounds and six assists as top-seeded Hayfield had to outscore K-M 22-8 in the fourth quarter to break a tie. Kramer hit a three-pointer to end the third quarter knotted at 45-all.
