Steve Snyder scored a career-high 30 points on 8-of-12 shooting from three-point range to lead the Southland boys' basketball team to a 66-32 rout of host Wabasha-Kellogg Friday night.

Snyder scored seven of the Rebels' nine first half three-pointers, leading his team to a 35-13 advantage at the break. As a team, Southland netted nine of its12 three-pointers in the first half as Wabasha-Kellogg gave its attention to Rebel center Tim Schneider.

"They played a 2-3 zone and packed it in around Tim, that left the outside open," said Southland coach Greg Storey. "We made nine threes in the first half."

Dan Bakker and Schneider each pulled down nine rebounds as the Rebels (10-8, 8-5) led a 34-27 margin on the glass. Bakker scored nine points and Schneider added seven as Snyder had the hot hand throughout the first half.

"He was simply on fire," Storey said.

So was Southland's defense. The Rebels allowed Wabasha-Kellogg (0-15, 0-12) no more than 10 points in any quarter.

A.J. Kohn was the Falcons' only double-digit scorer, netting three trifectas and a total of 17 points.

Aside from Snyder, four other Southland players netted a three-pointer. Justin Maiers, Tim Felten and Chad Wilson each connected from long range for their only points of the night, and Bakker's nine included one trey.

Southland has won three of its last four games after suffering its only three-game losing skid of the season. The Rebels' only loss in the last four was to second-ranked LeRoy-Ostrander. Southland visits Lyle/Pacelli on Monday for a non-conference contest at 7:30 p.m. at Pacelli High School in Austin.
