Betty J. Bednar, 78
Betty Jane Bednar, 78, of Austin, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at St. Mark's Lutheran Home, Austin
She was born Nov. 2, 1924, in Austin, to Loren and Ida (Boettcher) Lorimor. She graduated from Austin High School in 1942.
On Jan. 20, 1945, she married Donald Bednar at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin. Donald died Sept. 30, 1982.
In November of 2000, Betty moved to St. Mark's Lutheran Home. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and WELCA.
Survivors include sons, Dennis (Michaell) Bednar and Bradley (Susan) Bednar, all of Austin; Gene (Karee) Bednar, Fargo, N.D.; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son, Jody Bednar; a great-granddaughter; and brothers and sisters, Francis Coyle, Inez Huber, Dail Lorimor, Lee Lorimor, Arnold "Barney" Lorimor and Mary Ann Hrubetz.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at the funeral home and Wednesday at the church for one hour before the service.
Service: 11 a.m., Wednesday at Grace Lutheran Church with Rev. Greg Mannel officiating.
Interment: Oakwood Cemetery.

James C. Cassidy, 83
James C. Cassidy, 83, of Austin, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at Austin Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 30, 1919, in Austin, to Charles and Carrie Cassidy.
He graduated from St. Augustine High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army in January 1941. He was a decorated World War II veteran, served in the Philippines and Asiatic Pacific Theatre and received the Purple Heart.
In his younger years, he was an avid golfer, a member of several bowling teams and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He retired from George A. Hormel Company in 1986, after 44 years. He spent his last 12 years at St. Mark's Apartments, where he served on the residence council and enjoyed playing cards, taking walks and volunteering at the nursing home.
Survivors include children, Mary Hele (David), Minneapolis; Judy Cleveland, Eden Prairie; Scott (Joyce), New Prague; Mike, Minneapolis; Tim (Patricia), Saudi Arabia; Wade, Elmore; Jon, Minneapolis; nine grandchildren; mother-in-law, Ruth Cambern; companion, Ardella Haldorson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rosemary; and son, Tom.
Visitation: At a luncheon in the church fellowship room following the service.
Service: 10:30 a.m. memorial mass Tuesday at St. Augustine's Catholic Church, Austin.
Interment: Fort Snelling National Cemetery, April 2003.
