After winding up the City Championships for men and women over the past month, regular league action again takes the spotlight despite the week’s schedule being abbreviated by the prior Tuesday's storm cancellations.
For the second report in a row, Tim Haldorson led all ABC division bowlers with a 698 while rolling in the Thursday Classic Scratch league. Jesse Duholm followed closely behind again for the second time in a row with a 688. Larry Eikmeier, also in the Classic league, had the week's high game of 266.
John Johnson of the senior men's division showed consistency in the senior division with a week-leading 657 series and 233 game on Thursday, and a 583 during the Tuesday league. Bob Dahlback had his highest series this year with a 654 on Thursday. Lu Cline put together a nice series to lead the senior ladies with a 566 total that included a 195 game. Addie Cochlin had the lady senior high game of 210.
Sue Stoltenberg rose to the top of the WIBC division last week with a 623 series from the Wednesday Morningstar League, and also added a 567 later in the week. Sara Wesely came up with the divisions high game of the week while rolling in the Echo Majors by tallying a 238 game. Jenny Classon turned in the best over average effort of the week while rolling in the Swingers league. She carries a 136 average, but on that day she knocked down a 569 series that was 161 pins over her average to earn a WIBC award.
Upcoming events at Echo Lanes include the Variety Cosmic Fun Tournament on Feb. 22. Four different types of competitive format games will be bowled to obtain an overall score for each couple that participates. More details are available at Echo's front desk.
On March 2, the annual 1,300 Club event involving 700 Club and 600 Club members will couple together. Two shifts will be held starting at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. at Echo Lanes. Sign up at the front desk at the bowling center.
