"We controlled the game from start to finish," said Austin coach Troy Holtz. "Our power-play and special teams made a big difference in this game."

The Packers (13-3-1, 10-0-1) added to their comfortable lead with two points for the win, but Austin plays at Rochester Mayo Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. The Spartans recently knocked off Century, 2-0, and appear to be steadily improving. The Packers end a five-game road trip at Albert Lea Monday night at 7:30 p.m.

Alex Petersen picked up his seventh win in net for the Packers. Petersen (7-2, 4-0) made nine stops in the win, while counterpart Andy Nadeau was peppered with 42 shots, making 38 saves.

"Their goalie played a great game," Holtz added. "He made some big saves."

Austin's last remaing regular-season home game is Feb. 6 on Parents' Night against Rochester Century.
