Tim Schneider posted a double-double in leading the Southland boys' basketball team to a 57-54 Three Rivers Conference win over Chatfield Tuesday night in Adams.
Schneider had 16 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Rebels in both categories, avenging an earlier-season loss to the Gophers. Chatfield beat Southland 63-54 in their own Rebel Classic Tournament for third place. A 47-percent field-goal effort helped the Rebels return the favor.
Southland outscored Chatfield 18-7 in the second quarter and held on for the win. Greg Retterath hit a pair of three-pointers and finished with 13 points, while Adam Nagele had eight of his 10 points in the fourth quarter.
Lance Gladis led Chatfield with 20 points, including three three-pointers in the Gophers' fourth-quarter comeback effort. Leading scorer Cole DiLaura was limited to 12 points.
Dan Bakker added nine points for Southland and Steve Snyder chipped in seven for the Rebels (6-3, 5-1), who visit fifth-ranked Goodhue on Friday night.
