Planning Commission, school board to meet

The city planing commission will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Austin City Council Chambers.

Four public hearings in the agenda include a request for a change of a non-conforming land-use of the Burr Oak Manor Property located at 400 10th Avenue NW.

The request would change the nursing home care facility to a 24-unit multi-family rental apartment complex.

In addition the commission will make appointments for the chairperson and vice-chairperson for 2003.

Austin School Board to meet

The Austin School Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. in Austin City Council Chambers.

Four of Austin School District's buildings have been awarded the National "Energy Star Certification" by the Environmental Protection Agency.

The award recognizes the district for efforts to save energy. The certification indicates that the schools consume less electricity, natural gas and water per square foot than similar facilities in the country.

A plaque will be presented to the District recognizing the achievement.

Other items in the agenda include:

n Request for approval of 2002-04 secretarial working and Austin Administrators' Association agreement.

n Request for approval of 2003 school board committee assignments.

n Status of mold abatement project at Banfield Elementary.
