With the 24th annual Lyle Area Cancer Auction taking place, there's many related activities going on with that event to stay busy.
But there's also other happenings in and around Austin that will be taking place this weekend.
Saturday, there will be a "Winter Bird Painting" for students in grades second through seventh. The event takes place from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Austin Area Art Center. Cost for the event is $8 and registration can take place at the center. For information, call 43-8451.
The Northwestern Singers will have their winter concert, entitled "Musical Cabaret," at 7:30 p.m. in Knowlton Auditorium at Austin High School. Advance tickets for the event are $9 for adults and $8 for seniors and students. Tickets at the door are $10 and can be purchased in advance at Black Bart's/Nemitz's and from any Northwestern Singer.
Also, the Brickhouse, located across the street from Riverside Arena in Austin, will host a bluegrass and old-time country concert from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday.
