Lyle/Pacelli's offensive ineptitude did little to help the team compete with Alden-Conger in a 62-42 non-conference loss at home Friday in Lyle.

The L/P boys' basketball team shot just 19 percent from the field (8-42) in the third straight loss since picking up its first win. A long week of three games ended with as many losses for Lyle/Pacelli

Mark Van Winter scored 12 of his team-leading 16 points at the free-throw line.

"We didn't do much but free-throws," said L/P coach Gary Erlandson. "In the second we came to life a bit, but in the third we couldn't sustain anything very long and they lengthened the lead."

Lyle/Pacelli scored all eight of its first-quarter points from the free-throw line, falling behind 18-8 before ever hitting a field goal.

Josh Wills and Brett Penning each had 18 points for Alden-Conger, and Scott Martinson added 14 for the Knights. A-C shot 57 percent (27-47) from the floor and pulled down a 38-21 rebounding advantage.

Lyle/Pacelli (1-13, 1-5) got seven points from Joey Greibrok and six from Nick Ehret and David Judd. L/P hosts Grand Meadow for a Southeast Conference clash Tuesday night in Lyle. The Superlarks won a 64-56 meeting in the consolation semifinals of the Rebel Classic back in December.
