Austin City Council members met the three candidates seeking the Austin Library Director position at an informal meeting Wednesday.

The candidates, Ann Hokanson of Prescott, Wis., Jim Corbly of Austin and Ginger Stemee of Rochester spent the day touring Austin, visiting the Parenting Resource Library, meeting with the library staff and library board members.

The day started with four candidates, but one withdrew after accepting an offer elsewhere, said Dan Heins, chair of the library board.

The board will meet at 4 p.m. today at the library for discussion and a decision if they want to offer a contract to one of the candidates.

"We want to shorten the vacancy as much and quick as we can," Heins said.
