Two crucial forfeits may have been the difference in GMLOK's 45-26 win over Southland Friday night in Spring Valley.
The intensity that both team's wrestlers bring to the circle each time they meet has been well known for years. Records tend to disappear once the whistle blows.
"This is always a big rivalry when we get together," said GMLOK coach Bill Simpkins.
Seven falls and one technical fall were recorded between the two teams in 12 matches wrestled.
Isaac Klaehn, Pete Churchill, and Adam Landherr recorded falls for the Rebels, while Seth Schlee, Mitch Mosher, Kyle Stern, and Taylor Brown pinned their victories for the Bulldogs.

Hayfield's Masching gets 100th win
Even though the Hayfield wrestling team took third place in the triangular against Kasson-Mantorville and Waterville-Elysian-Morristown on Friday night, the Vikings got to celebrate an individual achievement of one of their wrestlers.
Senior 125-pounder Shane Masching won a technical fall over Kasson-Mantoville's Justin Harris and was awarded a forfeit at 130 pounds against WEM to earn his 100th career win Saturday in Kasson.
Currently, Brad Pike had the Hayfield record with career 190 wins.
Danny West (119), Sam Rud (152), and Brad Evens (171) also went undefeated during the competition.
Zach Ehmke (103), Bruce Erath (140), George Evjen (145), and Carl Bamlet (275) recorded a victory during one of their two matches. Ehmke and Evjen picked up pins.
Hayfield wrestled its way to fourth place in LaCrescent's eight-team tournament on Saturday. Hayfield won its dual with Dover-Eyota but lost to LaCrescent and Wabasha-Kellogg.
Three Viking matmen --Erath (140), Masching (125), and Bamlet (275) -- went 3-0 during the tournament.
Viking eighth-grader Will Naylor, who normally competes on the B-squad, was given permission by head coach Will Pazurek to compete in the tournament at 160 pounds. Naylor recorded his first varsity win by executing a head-and-arm move on his opponent that resulted in a six-second fall, which was the fastest pin recorded by a Hayfield grappler in school history.
