Fillmore Central stops Southland

Fillmore Central's persistence paid off in a 63-53 non-conference victory over Southland Tuesday night in Harmony.
Neither team made a predominant run at the other, but the host Falcons kept applying the pressure to a surprisingly suspect Southland interior. The Rebels were outrebounded 30-18 and center Tim Schneider was limited to just eight points.
"This was a night where we went on the road and not everybody came to play," said Southland coach Greg Storey, who saw his team lose for the third consecutive outing. "We were just soft inside, it was really quite frustrating."
The Rebels turned to their outside game, where Steve Snyder scored 15 of his game-high 19 points from beyond the three-point arc
The Rebels, now 7-7 overall, return to Three Rivers Conference play Thursday at home against Lewiston-Altura. Southland has lost its last four TRC contests to slip to 5-5 in league play.
